How to get to Asturias

Asturias has only one airport, the Aeropuerto de Asturias (OVD). It is about a 30-minute drive from Oviedo, Gijón and Avilés. Together with bus and train, these are the most convenient ways to get to Asturias. These are the main connections to Asturias from Germany, the UK and from other regions in Spain.

Asturias Airport terminal
Asturias Airport, also called Oviedo Airport (OVD), is located near the sea and the cities of Gijón, Oviedo and Avilés.

Asturias from Germany (or the Netherlands):

Ryanair will fly 2 times a week from Düsseldorf Weeze (NRN) to Asturias (OVD) from November 2022 (www.ryanair.de).

Another option is to fly from Düsseldorf (DUS) to Bilbao (BIO). Eurowings offers 6 flights a week to Bilbao (www.eurowings.com).

From Bilbao, it takes about 3 hours by car or bus to Asturias.

Another alternative is flights with a stopover in Mallorca or Madrid. Vueling (www.vueling.es) offers flights to Asturias.

If you come from the border region to the Netherlands, then the direct flight from Amsterdam (AMS) to Asturias could also be interesting for you. Vueling will offer direct flights from November 2022.

Asturias from Madrid:

We recommend taking the train (www.renfe.es) or the bus (www.alsa.es). The train takes about 5 hours and the bus takes about 6 hours to reach Asturias.

Asturias from the UK:

Ryanair flies 3 times a week from London Stansted (STN) to Asturias (OVD) from November 2022 (www.ryanair.de).
